As a company, we pride ourselves on transparency and direct communication. Sinking Ship Creations has enjoyed tremendous success over the past few years, and it’s a joy to share success stories with you. It also means that when we have challenges, we have to be open about them and let you know. And right now, we have a challenge with our season opener: Honor Bound hasn’t sold enough tickets to support six full runs.
Randy Lubin and Jason Morningstar’s Honor Bound is an excellent larp - a rare insight into a challenging subject that is both fun to play and leads to thoughtful discussions. We’re also proud of our staging, which we believe takes this larp and transforms it into a unique immersive experience. But it’s also a bit pricey, early in the theatrical year, and an experience that’s about toxic masculinity - none of which ever made it easy to sell tickets. As such, we had to scale back our production.
We will be running (sales permitting) two runs of Honor Bound on Sunday, September 8, at 1 pm and 4 pm. We still have a few tickets on sale for these runs… we hope to see you there!
What We Need From You
Nothing! We’re a professional theater company, and this sort of thing happens. We also have a policy of holding all revenue in our account until the production, so we’re capable of offering all the refunds necessary to fulfill our obligations. Further, all playtesting costs are paid out of our development budget… so we’re good. We’re thankful for the trust of you, our supporters, who not only make it economically viable to scale back a run, but who also facilitate this sort of communication. Thank you.

Essentially, we set aside money after every production to pay for future playtesting, which comes primarily through fiscal sponsorship through Fractured Atlas.
